Established in 2008 with expertise working in all areas of home maintenance, repair, and construction.

Introduction

Hi, I’m Mark, owner and GC of Sipple Home Improvements. Over the years I’ve obtained a unique and wide variety of skills from the positions I held early in my career. My experience from managing apartment communities while under construction and then working for a high end builder, building spec homes have provided me with a level of expertise where I can satisfy almost all of your home improvement and repair needs.

Beginnings - Facilities Supervisor

In the early 90’s I began my career at Lakeside Apartments, a community of over 300 luxury apartments, as a Maintenance Technician. Over a 3 year period I was promoted through Assistant Supervisor and ultimately Facility Supervisor of Carriage Hill Apartments. Carriage Hill brought with it a lot of interesting challenges, still being under construction it required me to learn a lot of new skills at a rapid pace. To say the least I got a crash course in all things construction incuding advanced foundation, electrical, and plumbing repairs. I became an expert at reading blueprints and remediating a lot of atypical situations. While maintaining this property I also supervised the grounds personel, was responsible for the appearance of the property, maintained the facilities inventory and budget, and worked closely with property managment to ensure the tenants received the high level of service they deserved. Some of my day to day involved repair/replacement of dishwashers, refrigerators, ovens, washers, dryers, HVAC-Heat Pumps, electrical for switches, lights and outlets; drywall; plumbing for toilets, water lines, water heaters, sinks and faucets; carpentry; snow removal. Due to my hard work and diligence, I was awarded Maintenance Supervisor of the year by the BRAC for applying cutting edge techniques for efficienctly handling all routine service calls, emergency calls, preventative maintenance, and turnovers.

New Beginnings

After working at Carriage Hill I worked for a high end custom home builder as a Project Manager. My houses were consistently delivered ahead of schedule and within or under budget. At any time I was responsible for 4-19 custom homes ranging from 3500 - 7,000 sq. ft. Unfortunately, when the housing market collapsed, I like a lot of others in the field of residential construction was laid off for the first time in my life. As a side job, I helped a colleague with the finishing of a 108 piece drywall installation for a basement and we ended up completing the entire project, in-house and turn key just between the 2 of us. This was the beginning of Sipple Home Improvments. I’ve done everything from install an in-ground 20’x40' shocrete pool with waterfalls to thousands of feet of hardscapes/retaining walls/patios, to additions and everything in between. I am loooking for new projects in the Charlottesville/Crozet area, but would also be open to the right permanent position that utilizes my various skills.
